McNEIL HAS ANGEL TOUCH
EVERTON V BURNLEY 8PM, SKY SPORTS
DWIGHT McNEIL is Burnley’s Angel of the North.
Former England forward Joe Cole has compared his left foot to that of Angel Di Maria, and McNeil admits his dad Matty now calls him Angel.
McNeil, 21, who will make his 100th Premier League appearance for Burnley tonight, said: “My dad makes a joke about it because Di Maria’s got tattoos and I’m just starting to get mine done.”
McNeil, right, was in his final year at Manchester United’s academy when Di Maria moved to Old Trafford in 2014 and had his name on his Reds shirt because he was such a fan.
He might have been lining up for Everton tonight had Rafa Benitez’s reported interested materialised but McNeil says his dad, who played for Macclesfield and Stockport, made sure his head was not turned. He said: “He told me to concentrate on Burnley. “I’m still a Burnley player, nothing has changed. I’ve got to give my all for them.”
