Beginner’s luck? You can forget it
CRYSTAL PALACE 3 TOTTENHAM 0
WHEN you have scored a record-breaking 28 seconds into your Premier League debut – and still had time to add a second – you would think it is something to remember.
But Odsonne Edouard is already trying to forget his dream start.
After replacing Christian Benteke in the 84th minute, the 23-year-old summer signing from Celtic, left, scored twice in just six minutes – but he does not want to stop there.
He said: “It’s a dream debut. I need to enjoy it but now it has finished I want to forget it and work hard for a good performance again.”
In a London derby in front of a lively crowd Japhet Tanganga and Wilfried Zaha lost their cool and were booked after instigating a 19-man brawl.
Just five minutes later, Spurs defender Tanganga picked up a second yellow card for a lunge on Jordan Ayew and Palace ran riot.
A Ben Davies handball gave Zaha the chance to open the scoring from a penalty before Edouard’s late cameo.
