MESSAGE OF HOPE EASES KLOPP SHOCK
JURGEN KLOPP admitted Harvey Elliott’s serious injury overshadowed Liverpool’s impressive win at Leeds.
Elliott was taken to hospital with a suspected dislocated ankle after a challenge from Pascal Struijk, who was sent off. “A bad ankle injury for sure,” said a shaken Klopp after the match.
“It looked like it was dislocated and the medical department put it back.
“Massive pain, shock for him, for us and we don’t know more. It’s a serious injury, definitely for an 18-year-old. The red card is not important – in two or three weeks he [Struijk] can play on, Harvey will not.
“I spoke to the boys after – we have to speak a little bit about the football, but Harvey overshadows it.”
Elliott, above, posted a message on Instagram from the back of his ambulance saying “thank you for the messages guys! Road to recovery YNWA” which lessened his manager’s anxiety.
“It’s one of the few Instagram posts that I really love,” said Klopp. “It shows he has not much pain any more.”
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa said: “Pascal recovered the ball. I’m totally sure there was no bad intention.”
