WE KANE WIN

- WOLVES TOTTENHAM SPURS WIN 3-2 ON PENS Dave Armitage Skipper delivers as Spurs go through on penalties

TOTTENHAM got that winning feeling back just in time for their big Premier League clash at Arsenal on Sunday.

Wolves messed up their penalty shoot-out spot-kicks to send Spurs through to the fourth-round when Conor Coady smashed his against the bar. There were also misses from Ruben Neves, who shot over, and Leander Dendoncker, who had his saved.

Harry Kane might still be looking for his first Premier League goal of the season but he is not lost his touch in the cup. He scored one and was left shaking his head in disbelief as keeper John Ruddy managed to keep his close -range header out with one hand. Kane is under the most intense scrutiny of his career – largely courtesy of his failed effort to force a move to Manchester City in the summer.

Spurs got off to a great start with Tanguy Ndombele putting them ahead in the 14th minute with a great finish after he had charged down a Coady clearance. He surged through, kept Willy Boly at arms length and turned keeper Ruddy before slipping the ball in.

Coady had been brought on as a 10th-minute substitute for debutant Yerson Mosquera, who was taken off on a stretcher after turning awkwardly.

Then in the 24th minute Kane doubled their lead, racing on to a defencesplitting pass from Dele Alli before sliding the ball past Ruddy.

The restless home fans were given a lift with a rally towards the end of the first half, which brought a goal.

Six minutes before the break, Dendoncker got them back in the game with a superb header into the top corner from Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross. And Wolves got themselves level in the 58th minute when Hwang Heechan dispossessed Ndomblee and, when Dendoncker threaded it through to Daniel Podence, he showed the coollest of heads to slip the ball home.

But Spurs so nearly had a third when Ndombele sent a speculative 25-yard shot goalwards that totally bamboozled Ruddy, who was relieved to see it fly over the bar.

Then Kane thought he had wrapped it up when he sent a bullet header towards goal from just six yards only to see Ruddy divert it.
