‘Too clunky’ Greg voted off Strictly

- By Naomi Clarke and Mark Jefferies

NOT-so-hip actor Greg Wise has become the third celebrity to be voted out of Strictly.

After dancing the samba to Macarena, judge Craig Revel Horwood told him: “It did look like you’d just come out of a double hip replacement operation, very clunky, and especially through the hip circles, technically really quite bad actually...”

But he added: “I loved the shirt, I loved the smile.”

Greg, who is married to Dame Emma Thompson, still smiled after three of the four judges voted to keep Judi Love and Graziano Di Prima in the competition.

It was Judi’s second time in the dance-off.

This time their waltz to Mariah Carey’s Hero won them votes from Craig, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke. But head judge Shirley Ballas said: “Well, I counted all the mistakes and from what I saw I would have saved Greg and Karen [Hauer].”

Greg, 55, who is best known for his roles in Sense And Sensibility, Johnny English, and The Crown, told Strictly host Tess Daly: “I’ve had an amazing time, I feel unbelievably privileged and thank you all for having me.”

Karen told Greg: “It has been a blast, thank you for the amazing lunches, thanks for the quality of work and for being an amazing student. I have enjoyed just having fun.”

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman before the scores were delivered, Wise admitted: “I got the fear.”

He previously said he was doing Strictly in memory of his sister Clare, who died five years ago and had a “glitterball” coffin.

Greg and Karen’s total of

19 put them at the bottom of the leaderboard, with Dragons’ Den star

Sara Davies and Aljaz Skorjanec dancing their way to the top with a tango.

Rugby player Ugo

Monye had to miss a week in order to rest a back injury.
