Judge Shirley’s check-up after viewers spot lump

- By Mark Jefferies

SHIRLEY Ballas will have a lump under her right arm checked out by her doctor after concerned Strictly Come Dancing fans saw it and feared it could be cancerous.

The head judge said yesterday she had done a “self-check” and felt a “tiny little node”.

She added: “Last week and the week before I got some alarming messages about people who said when I picked my arm up they could see lumps or bumps or nodes.

“I did some self-checks, I couldn’t feel anything except a tiny little node at the back. I am going to go to the doctors on Tuesday.

“To those who were concerned enough to message me, I thank you.” In 2019, the former ballroom champion had a four-hour operation to have her breast implants removed due to cancer fears.

Then in June, Shirley, 61, suffered another cancer scare after finding a lump in her shoulder.

Yesterday she said she has had two other cancer scares in the past.

She also has a history of cancer in her family, with her mum Audrey diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019, while her grandmother and aunt have battled the disease.

Shirley made the decision to remove her DD breast implants and embrace her natural A cup after she discovered a potentially dangerous capsule had grown unexpectedly.

The star urged women considering breast implants to “do their research” into the possible risks.

She said: “You can’t make somebody love you, no matter what you do to yourself.

“You can get implants, you can get all these procedures, thinking you will be more of a woman for that person.

“But it does not make a difference. If they don’t love you, they won’t, no matter what you do to your appearance.

“It’s learning to love yourself.”
