Film: Pacific Rim: Uprising, Film4, 6.50pm
This 2018 science-fiction action sequel features John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Idris Elba and Charlie Day. Set in 2035, ten years after the Battle of the Breach, the once-promising Jake Pentecost has abandoned his Jaeger pilot training only to become caught up in the dangerous criminal underworld. Jake’s father sacrificed his life to save humanity from the evil Kaiju, but now an even more unstoppable danger is threatening to ravage the city. Jake has one last chance to prove he can live up to his father’s legacy as the epic conflict between otherworldly monsters and the pilot-powered super-machines built to vanquish them continues.
Gardening: Kate Humble: Good Life, Green Life, C5, 8pm
Wildlife presenter and farmer Kate Humble (left) demonstrates clever ways to help save the planet by living more sustainably, maintaining biodiversity and cutting down on waste, all while saving money into the bargain. In this week’s episode, Kate shows how creating a pond and adding marine plants can help some fast-disappearing wildlife. She also shares tips on how to attract bees and encourages everyone to forage for free food on their doorsteps.
Sports: Live International Football, ITV, 7pm
San Marino v England (kick-off 7.45pm). Broadcaster Mark Pougatch presents coverage of both teams’ concluding Group I qualifier. England (the team’s Harry Kane and Gareth Southgate, above) prevailed 5-0 when the sides met at Wembley in March. Given England has won all seven of the meetings between the teams, scoring 42 goals and conceding one, another comfortable victory is expected.
Arts: Verdi’s Rigoletto – On The Lake, Sky Arts, 9pm
This production of the tragedy is performed on the breathtaking water stage of Lake Constance in the Austrian city of Bregenz. Composer Giuseppe Verdi once dominated the 19th-century Italian opera scene and his 1851 masterpiece, Rigoletto, still remains one his most popular works. The opera tells the story of the womanising Duke of Mantua and his court jester, Rigoletto, who is cursed for taking his jokes too far.
Documentary: Diana: Queen Of Style, C4, 10pm
An in-depth look at the Princess of Wales’s life through her most famous outfits. This documentary explores how Lady Diana (right) came to be an international style icon, with contributions from designers including Said Cyrus, Jacques Azagury, Leomie Anderson, Elizabeth Emanuel and Joanna Osborne and Sally Muir – creators of the infamous sheep jumper – as well as hairstylist Sam McKnight, make-up artist Mary Greenwell and drag artist Bimini Bon-Boulash.
