Tributes to slain teenager
A BOY of 16 who died after he was stabbed in the street has been described by friends as “a beautiful young soul”.
Kennie Carter was found bleeding in Stretford, Greater Manchester, at around 7pm on Saturday. He was rushed to hospital but died later.
Family friend Beckiie Carol-Jade McCabe said: “Such a beautiful young soul has been taken far too soon at the age 16. He was such a quiet boy growing up, wouldn’t do any harm to no one.
“My family are very close with his, they are like family to me. I’m absolutely heartbroken. It’s so devastating he’s had to lose his life because of knife crime.”
Greater Manchester police confirmed last night four boys aged between 15 and 17 have been arrested on suspicion of murder after warrants were executed in Stretford, Old Trafford and Hulme.
A resident, who said Kennie was a
friend of her son, described the teenager as “a lovely boy”.
She added: “He didn’t cause problems or harm to anybody. He was funny, he made everyone laugh and had a cheeky smile.”
Superintendent Caroline Hemingway said: “A teenage boy was tragically stabbed to death and has been formally identified as Kennie Carter.
“My thoughts – as a police officer and as a mother of a teenage son – go out to Kennie’s loved ones, who will receive as much support as we can give them through our speciallytrained officers.
“A murder investigation is underway and a team of detectives from our major incident team have been working to piece together the circumstances leading to this attack.
“Again, we see the utterly devastating consequences of knife crime – it destroys lives, families, and communities. We will not relent in tackling this problem in our society.”
