Bollard is a sugary eco treat
ECO-FRIENDLY traffic bollards made of sugar cane are being tested.
Hampshire Council says they are low carbon, lighter, easier to install and cheaper at £150. Concrete ones cost
£190.
Bosses said: “It’s a first for Hampshire, as we’re proud to trial low-carbon street furniture.”
The new polymer-based bollards do not splinter when struck. Cement, a key part of concrete, is responsible for up to eight per cent of global carbon emissions.
