SOLDIER SHOOTS FIVE DEAD AT MILITARY FACTORY AS RUSSIAN ‘FALSE FLAG’ OPS FEARED
A UKRAINIAN soldier killed at least five people after opening fire at a military factory, officials say.
Five others were injured. President Volodymyr Zelensky has told police to investigate the mass shooting amid fears of Russian “false flag” operations.
The suspected shooter, named as Artemiy Ryabchuk, 21, is said to have handed himself to police a short time after fleeing the Pivdenmash missile factory in Dnipro.
Four male National Guard members and a woman security guard were killed.
In a video, the suspect is heard saying he shot the woman in the head as she had refused to open a door.
Mr Zelensky said: “I expect law enforcement to fully inform the public about all the circumstances. Motives of the killer, how [the shooting] became possible – everything should be analysed as thoroughly as possible.”
One Ukrainian lawmaker said Ryabchuk may have been bullied into his actions.
A link to the growing tension between Russia and Ukraine is yet to be identified. But, experts fear Moscow may stage acts of provocation to give it an excuse for invading.
