Loss of old phrases leaves us all down in the dumps

IT’S a shame, but hardly surprising, that a lot of old sayings are seldom used these days (“Old sayings ready for knacker’s yard”, January 26).

A whole new language has evolved because of mobile phones and the internet, much of which baffles me.
