FORMULA E’S NEW QUALIFYING FORMAT

THE PRELIMS: The 22 drivers are split into two groups of 11. They will then compete over a 10-minute period in their group to record the fastest lap. THE KNOCKOUTS: The top four drivers from each group will progress to a knockout one-v-one quarter-final. First place in Group A will face fourth place in Group B, and so on.

THE RACES: The one-v-one races will be time-trial races across a single lap, with the cars separated by approximat­ely 10 seconds on track.

THE FINAL: The two fastest cars will compete for pole position in a one-lap shoot-out.
