HOWE UPS BRUNO BID
NEWCASTLE have lodged an improved bid for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes which could see the Toon pay a record £43million for the Brazil international.
The French club’s tough stance appears to have paid off after they refused a £33m offer for the 24-year-old paid in instalments.
With the clock ticking towards Monday’s deadline and boss Eddie Howe having failed to bring in a midfielder, it seems as though Newcastle have blinked first.
The Toon also want to bring in a centre-half and have not given up on Brighton’s Geordie Dan Burn, despite the Seagulls rejecting their initial £8m bid.
