ROY HODGSON makes no apology for coming out all guns blazing as he faces the toughest relegation shoot-out of his career.

But theWatford manager will be a lot happier when he finally gets his hands on his best weapon, which so far he has only seen on TV.

“Two of our major weapons, I have not seen yet,” the 74-year-old said of Emmanuel Dennis, below, and Ismaila Sarr. “I have not seen Emmanuel yet, other than in training, and I have not seen Ismaila other than on the telly in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Ismaila played on Sunday night and we don’t know what time he is coming back. Our director of football is in contact and hopefully he has some good news.

“It was great to see him win with Senegal, but now we need him back with us to help us win. The earlier we can count on him playing in this team, the better. He is fit and if he is back in time and recovered from any injury backlog, we are hoping to be able to use him.”

Having secured a top-flight clean sheet for the first time in 31 attempts against Burnley in the goalless draw on Saturday, Hodgson is looking to push on against

West Ham tonight in the first of 17 tests between now and the final reel. “I was in a similar position at Palace, except we had 34 games,” said Hodgson. “Fulham was 18 games but they were higher in the table and, while West Brom were heading downwards with 12 games to go, they too were out of the relegation zone. “Time is very much our enemy here and we have got to be good on the training ground to get our message across to quite a big group of players. “Because we don’t have the time to let the message seep in more softly, we have got to come out with all guns blazing. They have to accept that this is the only way it can be and we had better show the necessary resilience.

“The standard gets better every year and the other teams spend that much more, so the task you face is a little bit harder.”
