Snooker ace Ronnie and TV star Laila split after 10 years

- By Ashleigh Rainbird

SNOOKER superstar Ronnie O’Sullivan and actress Laila Rouass have split up after a decade together, it was revealed yesterday.

The couple got engaged in 2013 after Ronnie, 46, popped the question with a £55,000 ring, but had said they were in “no rush” to wed.

Laila, 50, revealed on Twitter that they had ended their relationship, writing: “After nearly 10 years of love and memories, Ronnie and I have parted ways. Peace and love to you all.”

Former Holby City and Footballers’ Wives star Laila first got together with the six-time world snooker champion in 2012, having met him while house hunting.

She said: “It happened by accident. I was shown around Ronnie’s house by his father, who told his son about meeting me.

“Ronnie called the estate agent, a friend of mine, and asked me out via her.

“When she said he was a snooker player, I said, ‘Yeah, but what does he do for a living?’ I’d never heard of him because sport doesn’t interest me at all. Although Ronnie has won me over to snooker.” The pair had maintained they were in no rush to tie the knot despite being engaged for eight years.

He once said: “If something’s not broke, why fix it? If it’s working, why change a winning formula?”

Speaking in 2019, Ronnie – a father of three from previous relationships and now a grandfather – said: “We’ve been engaged for a while now, so we know we want to be with each other. I’m sure we will get round to it. When it happens, it will happen.”

In recent years, the pair are said to have focused on their wellbeing, practising Buddhist meditation and swapping nights out for green tea at bedtime.
