TUCHEL ‘ADDICTED’ TO WEMBLEY WAYS

- By John Cross

THOMAS TUCHEL claims Chelsea are ready to climb the mountain and reach a Wembley final for a third time under him.

Tuchel says the Blues have been sent back to “base camp” for another assault on reaching a final ahead of tonight’s FA Cup fifth-round trip to Luton.

He lost his first two Wembley finals – the Carabao Cup on Sunday and last year’s FA Cup – but is determined to return.

Tuchel said: “We want to go back. Of course as soon as possible if you want to reach the top of the mountain, it is better to go from base camp to base camp and the next step is Luton.

“As boring as it may sound, we cannot waste any energy with feelings of revenge or that we have to prove something. The experiences of both was great.

“The first one, as the first German coach to be at an FA Cup final full of history, was brilliant but the last match was even better.

“It was a full stadium and the crowd and match was even more satisfying. I will keep it as a very positive memory because I’m happy with how we played and to have the chance to be part of it.

“We are addicted to it. Everybody is. In high-level sport, once you have tasted it you want to have more.

“If we win a title, we win a title. If we don’t win a title I cannot jump off a building.

“As long as we play like this with full commitment and quality, I am a happy coach.” Tuchel refused to be drawn on concerns over Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea ownership and insisted that he is not the right person to ask about the war in Ukraine.

He said: “I am not a politician. You have to stop, honestly.

“I never experienced war so even to talk about it I feel bad because I am very privileged.

“I sit here in peace and do the best I can but you have to stop asking me these questions. I have no answers for you.”
