SINGER Nick Cave is mourning the loss of a second son Jethro who has died aged 30 – seven years after his brother Arthur was killed in a cliff fall.

Jethro Lazenby lived in Melbourne, Australia, and had been released from prison two days before his death, it has been reported.

In a statement, Nick, 64, said: “With much sadness, I can confirm that my son Jethro has passed away.”

A cause of death has not been revealed. Model Jethro was jailed in April after pleading guilty to violently attacking his mother, former model Beau Lazenby.

Jethro was understood to have been released on bail after a magistrate ordered he undergo substance abuse treatment and avoid contact with his mother for two years.

His lawyer told the judge that Jethro had been diagnosed with schizophrenia which affected his judgement. Nick, who fronts goth rockers the Bad Seeds, was estranged from Jethro, the eldest of his four sons, until he was seven.

Jethro adopted his father’s surname years later in hopes of boosting his acting career and continued to use it on social media profiles.

Nick’s son Arthur, whose mother is actress Susie Bick, died aged 15 after falling from a cliff near Brighton. An inquest heard he had taken LSD with a pal.

In a statement announcing his death in 2015,Arthur, one of twins, was described as a “beautiful, happy, loving boy”.

The impact of his death on Cave was explored in the documentary One More Time With Feeling. It highlighted the making of the album Skeleton Tree.

Two years after the death, Nick said: “People often say they can’t imagine how it would feel to lose a child, but, actually, they can – they can imagine what it is like.

“A lot is said about grief, especially the conventional wisdom that you do it alone. I personally have found that not to be the case.

“The goodwill we received after Arthur’s death from people who I did not know, especially through social media, people who liked my music and kind of reached out, was extraordinary.”
