Styles top of charts for young artists
FORMER One Direction star Harry Styles is rocketing up the list of richest musicians.
The now solo artist, 28, added £25million to his fortune last year to make him the wealthiest UK musician under the age of 30, with £100million.
The last few years have seen the singer embark on a North American tour and release his second album Fine Line to positive reviews.
As well as being a successful musician, Harry, below, has also appeared in numerous films including Dunkirk in 2017 and the forthcoming Don’t Worry Darling with Florence Pugh.
However, legendary ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, 79, is top of the money charts with a fortune of £865million, which he shares with US wife Nancy Shevell.
But Sunday Times rich list compiler Robert Watts believes Ed Sheeran could become the first billionaire artist after another “golden year” earned him £40million.
Impact
Robert said: “He may in time pip Paul McCartney.”
Sheeran, 31, who has just become a dad again, is 10th on the annual chart of UK and Irish musicians, with an estimated £260million.
Meanwhile, composer and impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber, 74, has seen his wealth drop by £30million to £495million due to the impact of the pandemic on theatre, but is still No3.
Rockers U2 are second on the list, with wealth of £625million.
And after boosting her fortune by £24million to £60million, singer
Dua Lipa rises to second on the young musicians list, equal with the girl group Little Mix.
Sting sold his music rights to Universal Music earlier this year to add £100m to a £320m pot.
