Oh my goddess
THE VIBE
Contemporary luxe accents meets Mediterranean relaxation in a fabulous five-star fusion opening up to the seafront.
THE STYLE
A member of the leading Design Hotels group, Almyra epitomises chic Cyprus and reopened in March 2020 following a €4million transformation which saw the renovation of all 187 rooms and suites, as well as Aeras restaurant and public areas.
The enhancements were overseen by leading French designer Joëlle Pléot, who has been working with the group for many years.
Room furnishings are sleek, sporting clean lines, bold geometric patterns and soothing blue hues of the Mediterranean Sea that surrounds the Island of Aphrodite.
THE FOOD
There are five dining options with a range of cuisine to delight every palate. Diners can settle in to seductive spaces for light lunches or full-on feasts in the evening – and creative children’s menus mean families are well catered for.
If al fresco Japanese purity mixed with sensuous Mediterranean flavours appeals, head to Notios.
Also al fresco, Mosaics starts your day as a lively breakfast buffet then segues to an elegant candlelit evening a la carte venue with grilled seafood and prime cuts, or inventive vibrant plant-based options.
For a taste of traditional Cypriot hospitality, Ouzeri is a seafront taverna where guests can enjoy a glass of ouzo and Greek flavours under flowering pergolas, accompanied by guitar players.
In the few cooler months in Paphos, indoors Aeras serves refined fireside nibbles with a side of glorious sea views.
Eauzone completes the culinary quintet, with spa fruit shakes, organic teas or juices and light bites by the Almyraspa pool.
Private wine tastings and a Wine & Dine experience are available with the sommeliers at Notios and Aeras, and guests can supervise their younger children as they dine earlier, then use the hotel’s on-site babysitting service to enjoy a leisurely adults-only meal later on.
THE SPA
Parents can indulge any child-free time to relax at the Almyraspa’s adult-only pool, or indulge in an innovative treatment using products from ‘beyond natural’ ILA, marinebased OSEA or medical-grade QMS.
Other spa facilities include a fitness centre, sauna, steam baths for detoxing and relaxation and private rooftop spaces for yoga and Pilates.
THE ACTION
If you want to do more than lie by the pool there is rock climbing, mountain biking, pony treks, fishing trips, diving lessons, tennis coaching and sailing excursions, plus kids clubs for youngsters aged from four months up to 16 years.
THE SIGHTS
The hotel is located within walking distance of the town’s ample nightlife, plus Paphos Castle and Paphos Archaeological Park with its remains of four Roman villas.
A short taxi ride takes you to the Tombs of the Kings, a large necropolis and a UNESCO world heritage site.
A little further afield is Aphrodite’s Rock, the mythological birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love.
You’re sure to love the Almyra, and that’s no myth.
