Film: Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, Film4, 7pm
This 2008 coming-of-age drama stars Georgia Groome (far left) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the title roles. With her 15th birthday fast approaching, Georgia Nicolson, portrayed by Groome, has two main aims in life – to throw the greatest party ever and persuade local hunk Robbie, played by Taylor-Johnson, to become her first boyfriend. Putting aside worries about her squabbling parents, Georgia sets about learning the art of kissing with the help of friends Jas, Rosie and Ellen. Based on the young adult novels by Louise Rennison, this laugh-out-loud comedy also features Georgia Henshaw, Eleanor Tomlinson and Manjeeven Grewal (left to right).
Arts: Age Of The Image, BBC4, 8pm
Art historian James Fox explores how mass communication and new technology helped 20th-century imagemakers transform society, as films, photographs, TV, art and advertising all became weapons in the ideological battles of the age. He reveals how director Leni Riefenstahl (left) and actress Marlene Dietrich used cinema to pursue different visions of power and freedom, and how Jewish comic book artists created superheroes as an act of resistance to the Nazis.
Antiques: The Repair Shop, BBC1, 8.30pm
Resident clock expert Steven Fletcher is on a mission to restore an unusual timepiece – a statue of a barmaid holding a swinging pendulum clock dial. Meanwhile, silversmith Brenton West (above, right) works on a precious hand mirror that has lost its glass and incurred numerous dents, while Graham Mancha overhauls an iconic piece of furniture – an Eames chair. Also starring Jay Blades (above, left).
Documentary: Kelly Holmes: Being Me, ITV, 11.40pm
Double Olympic gold medallist Kelly Holmes (above) discusses some of the most significant parts of her life for the first time. This one-off documentary meets those closest to her and discovers the emotional journey she’s been on over the past 30 years, and the impact it has had on her mental health. This insight into Holmes’s life explores grief, sexuality and the path she has been on to be her “authentic” self.
Comedy: Chaplin: The Birth Of The Tramp, Sky Arts, 9pm
Documentary charting Charlie Chaplin’s rise to stardom, looking beyond the iconic toothbrush moustache, bowler hat, walking cane and splayed feet. Chaplin (right) rose to fame in the era of the silent film through his screen persona, The Tramp. During a career that spanned more than 75 years, Chaplin became one of the most influential figures in the film industry. The star left a legacy that still remains more than four decades after his death in 1977.
