Robots star in Army campaign for troops
ROBOT soldiers are being used in adverts by the British Army to emphasise its need for “indispensable” human troops.
The campaign – called Nothing Can Do What A Soldier Can Do – explains that while new technologies will be deployed in battle, the future of UK defence will be underpinned by the “real deal”.
The one-minute video, to be shown in cinemas, on TV and online, shows a dystopian future where a robotic fighter scouts the terrain of a conflict zone.
It is part of the Army’s “This is Belonging” ad series.
The ending illustrates that while technology is important, only humans can make instinctive decisions on the ground in a conflict zone.
Colonel Nick Mackenzie, assistant director of recruiting, said: “We want to tell future recruits that, no matter what technological advancements we make, it is the judgment, intelligence and even the wit of soldiers that is indispensable to the future of the Army.”
