IS GOING ON STRIKE A RELIC FROM DARK AGES OF THE 1970s?

-

Yes

I CAN’T believe that in this day and age both employers and employees can’t find a better way to resolve their issues than industrial action (“Postal and rail strikes on horizon”, June 30).

It’s hardly theWinter of Discontent from the 1970s when working class people were sometimes living hand to mouth.

Everyone wants a bit more money in life, but are people that desperate for more that they are prepared to bring parts of the country to a standstill to get their point across? Richard Marsh,

Coventry

No

TIMES are hard and anyone who thinks they can squeeze a little extra out of their employers by way of more money or better job terms and conditions should be entitled to take action.

We are living in dire times, with energy, food and petrol prices going off the scale. Why shouldn’t people strike to get a bit more for themselves?

I’m sure that for the vast majority the odd day of strike action by a rail union or postal workers is going to make much difference to their lives.
