Daily Express

letter from the editor

Dear Reader,

MAY I take the opportunity to thank you for your constant support over the years for the Daily Express.

I do recognise that we live in challenging times and hope your Express on Saturday somewhat lightens the mood.

That aside, I am extremely sorry to inform you that we have had to take the tough decision to increase the price of today’s newspaper by 20 pence.

The cost of newsprint has increased dramatically and together with other factors has led to this rise.

I can only personally apologise and hope that you still believe we continue to provide value for money.

I hope you agree that our unrivalled Saturday columnists Richard and Judy plus Carole Malone add to the vibrant mix your Express delivers.

I do recognise the impact of any increase in price when Britain is going through the worst cost-ofliving crisis since the 1970s.

I have still not recovered from the trials of decimalisation in 1971 when the price of sweets seemed to double overnight.

We are all making difficult decisions on our expenditure, and prioritising spending, which is why

I feel deeply disappointed to impose this increase upon yourselves, dear readers.

In return for your loyalty, I can promise to provide the very best Express we can possibly deliver, and champion the causes that matter to you.

If you would like to contact me directly please feel free to email garyjones@express.co.uk

I would welcome your thoughts and ideas about the stories we cover, and how we can best meet your needs.

Please do accept my warmest regards. Gary Jones, Editor-in-Chief, Daily and Sunday Express
