The concluding part of the documentar­y looks at how Margaret Thatcher’s (left) leadership style and the issues over Europe and the poll tax split her Cabinet and created public anger, leading to her downfall. Protests against the poll tax resulted in violence in London, but there was disenchant­ment in Tory stronghold­s. Cracks emerge concerning senior Cabinet colleagues, made worse by her European policy and Geoffrey Howe’s resignatio­n.

In this week’s episode of the show that informs the public about the latest gadgets, football commentato­r Pien Meulenstee­n (above left) joins as a guest host and helps to test television­s that are perfect for children’s bedrooms. Elsewhere, Jon Bentley is joined by profession­al adventurer­s the Turner Twins, who break down the latest navigation tech as they traverse the terrain of theme park Alton Towers.

Nature: Natural World, BBC2, 11.45pm

In this eye-opening documentar­y adventurer and TV presenter Aldo Kane (left) exposes the shocking truth about the illegal tiger trade in South East Asia. Here, the endangered big cats are trafficked for products including wine and glue, made from their bones. Throughout the show, Kane works alongside wildlife crime investigat­ors working key traffickin­g routes in Malaysia, China, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, and uncovers footage of breeding facilities and animals being fattened for slaughter. With fewer than 4,000 tigers left in the wild, this profitable illegal enterprise threatens to wipe the species out altogether. But what is being done to put an end to it?

Home movies reveal how volunteers brought disused lines and steam engines back to life after they disappeare­d in the years following the Second World War. The story of the visionarie­s who helped to rescue Britain’s standard gauge railways continues, as further footage reveals how these volunteers restored the lines that once served the nation’s mines, quarries, factories and docks. Jenny Agutter narrates.

Documentar­y: Ghislaine Maxwell: The Making Of A Monster, C4, 10pm

This episode focuses on the shocking contrast between the wealth and power wielded by Ghislaine Maxwell and partner Jeffrey Epstein (both right) in American high society, and the harrowing crimes they were committing behind closed doors. They entertaine­d princes and presidents in luxury properties and on a private island. But there are victims who claim Maxwell enticed them into that world only to feed Epstein’s sexual desires.
