Frank: Be flash to get Gordon

- DAVID MADDOCK

FRANK LAMPARD has warned Chelsea they must make their final offer for Anthony Gordon now – or walk away from a deal.

The Everton manager is fed up with the speculation surrounding the 21-year-old star, which is unsettling his squad.

He has made clear his club’s deadline to do business is well before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Thursday.

“We have drawn a red line. It is very difficult, so there absolutely has to come a time where we have to understand what the squad is going to be. Especially a player of the level of Anthony, I have to know he is going be here and the good thing is here at the club, myself and everybody involved upstairs has the same kind of thinking so there will be no doubts on that front.”

Everton have also suffered with the long-running search for another striker, though that is set to be solved in part by the signing of Neal Maupay for around £12million.

After one point from three games, the Toffees desperately need a win as they head to Brentford today. “We know that confidence is always a concern, and clearly results reflect confidence and vice versa, so we need that win to help confidence and bring an understanding of the way we are working,” Lampard said.

“I’m being pretty honest when I say there will be some movement in the next week in and out and that is also important for the freshness and approach as to how we view ourselves.

“Results are so key, but I feel there is a strength we are gaining through the team from back to front, and that will become apparent and makes us stronger as we go on.”
