It’s Snow-time... Lisa is top TV chef
LISA Snowdon is the new Celebrity Masterchef champion after wowing judges with her “daring” menu last night.
The radio presenter, 50, said she was “blown away” by her triumph after overcoming pop stars Melanie Blatt and Danny Jones in the final.
She said: “It’s a life-changing experience. I feel like this isn’t real. I just can’t believe it.
“I couldn’t have wanted to win something that meant more to me than this. I’m on cloud nine.”
Her winning three-course menu featured a starter of poached rhubarb and pan-fried mackerel with a fennel slaw.
Elevated
The main course consisted of pan-fried duck breast with mushrooms.
And for dessert, she served up a chocolate tart with creme fraiche and sour cherries.
She chose a duck dish despite having struggled with them earlier in the competition.
Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace praised her for taking a risk and following her instincts.
John said: “Lisa, throughout this competition, has taken the everyday and elevated it into something special.
“This final, she dared to do something that was going to be a gamble, and the gamble paid off. Her food is fantastic.” Gregg added: “A faint heart never lifts a MasterChef title and that is why Lisa is our Celebrity MasterChef champion.”
The final followed the celebrities as they travelled to Alexandra Palace in north London, where they were tasked with creating afternoon tea for 12 BBC stars.
Back in the MasterChef kitchen, they next had to create one exceptional dish inspired by their childhood.
Finally, they faced the formidable Chef’s Table, hosted by Italian restaurateur Giorgio Locatelli at his London venue Locanda Locatelli.
Lisa joins previous winners, who include last year’s victor Kadeena Cox, Greg Rutherford, Sophie Thompson, Ade Edmondson and Nadia Sawalha.
