Pitt will ‘respond in court’ to Jolie abuse allegations
BRAD Pitt will defend claims by ex-wife Angelina Jolie that he was abusive towards her and their six children, the star’s lawyer said.
Anne Kiley said Brad, 58, had endured “every type of personal attack and misrepresentation”, but he refuses to “own anything he didn’t do”.
The latest spat between the former Hollywood couple follows a US court filing by actress Angelina, 47, in which she claimed Brad was verbally and physically abusive to his family on a plane in 2016.
The documents say the Fight Club star “poured beer and wine” over the heads of the children and “choked” one of them.
In a statement shared with US outlets on Thursday, lawyer Ms Kiley said: “Brad has owned everything he’s responsible for from day one – unlike the other side – but he’s not going to own anything he didn’t do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation.
“Thankfully, the various public authorities the other side has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.
“Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.”
Citing irreconcilable differences, Angelina filed for divorce five days after the alleged plane incident, which was investigated by the FBI.
The pair are still engaged in legal battles, including custody of their children.
Their ongoing dispute centres around the sale of their stakes in south of France winery Chateau Miraval, which they bought for £20,875,500 in 2008. The couple wed there in 2014.
But Brad has accused Angelina of orchestrating a “hostile” takeover of the wine business that he had “carefully built” in the village of Correns.
He claims she forced him into partnership with “a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions” – Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.
According to the legal documents, Brad contributed 60 per cent of the estate’s purchase price. Angelina paid the remaining 40 per cent.
