Marsch brushes off ‘must-win’ talk

- DAVID ANDERSON

JESSE MARSCH is refusing to pile extra pressure on his Leeds players by insisting tonight’s clash with Leicester is a must-win.

Leeds have slipped into trouble after collecting just two points in six games ahead of their trip to the King Power.

Marsch feels they are playing better than their results suggest and does not want to add to the heat on them by saying they must beat the rock-bottom Foxes.

“There’s always pressure,” said the Leeds head coach. “There’s a lot of attention paid to this club and this league.

“I don’t want them to feel extra pressure that we need an absolute result, must-win moment right now.

“It’s more about continuing the belief, do the extra little things. That’s the only way I know how to really get something clicking. I believe we’re really close and the goal is for Thursday to be a continuation of that.” At Leicester, criticism is growing. After Saturday’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace, a section of fans jeered manager Brendan Rodgers and held up a banner saying: ‘Board - the time for action is now’.

But a defiant Rodgers said: “I’ve got to where I’ve got to because I’ve got to have intensity and a character to fight.

“It is the way of the world – lose and you’ll be under criticism. The only thing you can do is look to win.”

LEICESTER (probable): Ward; Castagne, Amartey, Faes, Justin; Tielemans, Soumare, Dewsbury-Hall; Iheanacho, Daka, Barnes.

LEEDS (probable): Meslier; Kristensen, Koch, Cooper, Firpo; Adams, Roca; Sinisterra, Aaronson, Harrison; Bamford.
