Shoppers left stunned as ‘Lidl Bear’ is discovered in a supermarket and becomes an overnight sensation
Britain’s next big thing (or rather Lidl thing) caused a massive stir in a supermarket yesterday, when it was spotted out and about for the very first time.
The friendly face and cute jumper of ‘Lidl Bear’ – as the soft sensation has been named – drew gasps of awe from fellow shoppers. They caused such a fuss, that the store’s CCTV operators had to zoom in to find out what was going on.
‘I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,’ said head of security Stan Gard. ‘It was quiet one moment, then a huge ripple of excitement went around the store and suddenly the commotion began.
‘I zoomed in to see what was happening, and there was this little girl holding her teddy bear in a Lidl jumper. Shoppers were going mad for them.
‘I realised I was looking at Britain’s new furry superstar, but when I turned to tell my colleagues they’d all scarpered – they’d gone on a bear hunt to get an autograph!’

‘It just stood there, totally unfazed – not moving, not saying anything – just taking in all the adulation, as if it had been famous for years,’ said top influencer Ursa Major, who was doing her big shop in the store when it all kicked off.
‘To be honest, I didn’t really believe a teddy bear in a jumper could turn into a superstar overnight. But then I posted a picture on my socials, and the likes just blew up – “Lidl Bear” went viral!’
Yesterday afternoon, the internet broke, social media crashed and that day’s Prime Minister was asked to comment at PMQs, but all was quiet at the furry figure’s home.
It was believed that the little girl, who’s asked not to be named, had taken ‘Lidl Bear’ into the woods for a picnic.
A neighbour revealed the secret behind the astonishing rise to fame that’s taking Britain by storm. ‘I’ve heard the dad accidentally put his favourite Lidl Christmas jumper on a hot wash and shrunk it until the only thing it would fit was his daughter’s beloved teddy bear,’ they said.
‘They must be thrilled with what’s happened since – we’re hearing “Lidl Bear” is going to be on talk shows and has a modelling contract. My next door neighbour’s going to be on a billboard! Whatever next?!’
Last night, The Bear Times approached the superstar’s PR company Paws & Claws for a comment. But a spokesperson said: ‘“Lidl Bear” is not saying anything – it can’t talk. It’s just a stuffed bear, after all.’
That won’t matter for its legions of fans as they eagerly await news of what their new furry friend does next.
