EBAY CAR HAS RUN OUT OF ROAD

Q I purchased a used car on eBay for £2,400. Five months later it’s broken down and I’m told it needs a new head gasket. Do I have a claim against the seller?

A I assume this was a private seller, in which case the only right you have under the Consumer Rights Act is that the car was “as described”. Unless the car is fairly new and the seller specifically stated it was in perfect condition, it’s going to be difficult to claim. That’s why it’s best to buy from dealerships.

Q My husband and I had a flight booked to Singapore for December but we now cannot take our trip because he has just suffered a stroke. Can I claim a refund for the flight?
