‘Laughing’ boss shoots dead six co-workers, then himself

- By Christopher Bucktin

A SUPERMARKET manager killed six workers before turning the gun on himself in America’s 40th mass shooting this year.

It comes just days after five people were killed at a Colorado nightclub, making it the deadliest year on record for multiple gun deaths.

The latest rampage happened when a Walmart store boss, named locally as 31-year-old Andre Bing, opened fire in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Tuesday night.

A worker, who witnessed the slaughter, said she heard the gunman laughing before shooting himself dead with his pistol.

The woman, in her fifth day on the job, said 14 employees were in a meeting room waiting for their daily assignments when they heard gunfire.

The first victim of the shooting was named as worker Tyneka Johnson.

Kevin Harper, who works at the supermarket, fled and said on Facebook Live that it was a “manager” who had opened fire.

He said: “Just left out the break room, manager came in and started capping people up in there. We lost a few of our associates.”

Harper said he had run as fast as he could out the employee entrance. He said he saw two people on the floor, including one woman covered in blood, adding: “I’m just praying for my Walmart family.”

Witnesses say the man opened fire in the restroom of the store at 10.10pm as customers did last-minute Thanksgiving shopping.

Police chief Mark Solesky said: “There is no clear motive at this time,” adding he had no indication the gunman was known to police. Local mayor Rick West said: “I am devastated by the senseless act of violence that took place in our city. We are all shaken by this news.”

President Joe Biden said: “Because of yet another horrific and senseless act of violence, there are now even more tables across the country that will have empty seats this Thanksgiving.”
