Long Covid gets judged

- By Ben Mitchell

THE majority of around 2.1 million Britons with long Covid have been stigmatised as a result of the illness, data suggests.

By October 1, 3.3 per cent of the population were living with Covid’s many after-effects.

A poll now reveals 95 per cent of sufferers are treated unfairly over the problem – with this happening “often” or “always” to 76 per cent.

Some 86 per cent even feel “profound shame” due to the medical issue.

Claire Hastie of Long Covid Support, which worked on the Plos One study, said discrimination creates “additional distress” that can also “compromise healing”.
