£50 TEST CAN SPOT KILLER MYOCARDITIS
A £50 blood test to diagnose a potentially deadly heart muscle inflammation could be available within a year.
It would help identify those with myocarditis and get them early life-saving treatment.
The test is based on research published in Circulation, which showed that T-cells – a type of white blood cells – express a molecule called cMet, an indicator of the condition.
Professor Federica MarelliBerg, of Barts, said: “Early intervention is crucial.”
