Tune in as Eurovision meets Bargain Hunt

FORMER UK entrants to Eurovision show they still have that competitiv­e edge as they star on daytime telly today.

A Surrey antiques fair is a long way from the glitz of the song contest’s final in Liverpool tomorrow.

But Cheryl Baker, who won in 1981 with Making Your Mind Up, gets into the swing of things with 2018 entrant SuRie in today’s Bargain Hunt special.

The Bucks Fizz star said they “make a great team and our expert Charles Hanson is so lovely, I knew we would have fun”.

“I was thrilled to wear the famous red fleece as it was my Eurovision colour,” Cheryl, 69, added. “I’m amazed at what you can find at antiques fairs. No wonder they’re so popular.”

SuRie, who sang Storm, said: “Eurovision was a total honour but life has truly peaked now I’m the proud owner of a Bargain Hunt fleece.”

Reunion

In the blue team will be Carrie Grant of trio Sweet Dreams, who competed in 1983, and X Factor finalist Andy Abraham.

Carrie, who sang I’m Never Giving Up said: “It was like a Eurovision reunion but Andy and I also wanted to win. Waiting for the bids was like watching the Eurovision scores come in.Would we get nul points?”

Andy, who sang Even If in 2008, added: “I want to say thank you to the Bargain Hunt team and the experts for a fantastic show and also to Carrie and our opposition who made it great fun.”

Guided by an expert, the teams spent £300 each on three items at Sandown Park Antiques Fair in Surrey to sell at auction.

Presenter Natasha Raskin Sharp added: “Their Bargain Hunt fleeces may be slightly less glamorous than their Eurovision stage costumes but they wore them with pride.”
