Hairy Bikers get back on the road
THE Hairy Bikers are working on a new TV series – their first since Dave Myers battled cancer.
In March, Dave spoke of using a Pilates ball to pretend to ride a motorbike after chemotherapy ruined his balance.
Now he and Si King will head down theWest coast for new eight-part series.
The Hairy Bikers GoWest was announced at theWales Screen Summit for BBC2 and iPlayer.
The BBC says it “celebrates the amazing food producers, cuisine and vista of Britain’s West shores”.
Best friends Si, 56, and Dave, 65, will reunite in a celebration of friendship, foodies’ passion and the people of this part of the world.
They will ride across one part of the West coast each week, exploring the area through restaurants, recipes, producers and inventive new food entrepreneurs.
Grateful
The pair start in Scotland and will ride down to Devon.
It is described as the “perfect trip” for the Bikers to revisit places that are meaningful to their past, special locations where their friendship was forged and locations linked to their family history.
They will also meet new friends and explore new scenery to cook recipes inspired by the diversity of the West coast.
Dave spoke in March on the How To Be 60 podcast about filming.
He said: “I’m going to go back to filming this May and fortunately enough we’re going to film around the chemo.”
He said there was not really another option and added that it is “just the way it is”.
“All I can say is, it’s not spreading and I’m holding my own OK, so I’m pretty grateful for that.”
