Music to his ears... Aled qualifies to conduct weddings
ALED Jones has qualified to lead funerals as a celebrant after discovering his songs are some of the most requested for services.
The Songs of Praise frontman, 52, quietly trained for a year to do it – and can now also officiate at weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies.
Aled, who made his name with Walking In The Air aged 14, has since made more than 20 albums spanning hymns to traditional songs.
He said: “It is so humbling knowing my music is used at such pivotal times in people’s lives.
“Now being able to share in those happy and poignant moments makes the music seem even more powerful.
“I’ve learnt a lot about different ceremonies and the process of building these.
“I can’t wait to be a part of those life-changing experiences.”
The Classic FM presenter trained with Jennifer Constant and Penelope Boycott from The Academy of Modern Celebrancy.
He took lessons in airport lounges and even during lulls in filming on location.
