Boy murdered by own mum suffered burns and 70 injuries
Monster’s Bible punishments
A SADISTIC mother who conducted a campaign of cruelty against her three-year-old son due to her religious beliefs has been convicted of his murder.
Christina Robinson, 30, inflicted systematic abuse on defenceless Dwelaniyah before exploding in a furious rage, shaking him so violently he suffered catastrophic brain injury.
A court heard in the weeks leading up to the deadly assault, the little boy was repeatedly beaten with a bamboo cane and had been plunged into scalding water causing burns to his legs, buttocks and genitals.
With injuries accounting for 20% of his tiny frame, his mother failed to seek medical help and tried to cover the wounds with bandages.
He suffered 70 separate injuries before succumbing to his monster mother’s deranged attacks.
Robinson – a member of the controversial Black Hebrew Israelite religion – admitted striking her son but denied murder and four child cruelty charges.
She told Newcastle Crown Court she was following a Bible scripture advising the use of the rod for the “correction” of children.
When Dwelaniyah collapsed on November 5, 2022, jurors were told his mother took 20 minutes to dial 999, first calling husband Gabriel Adu-Appau, who was working 240
miles away at an RAF base, before searching the internet for “how to resuscitate a child”.
When paramedics and police arrived to discover the lifeless toddler she claimed he had stopped breathing while eating a sandwich. Medics attending the house at Ushaw Moor, Co Durham, were unable to revive Dwelaniyah and he was pronounced dead in hospital. Police recovered a bamboo cane that was splattered with blood. The court heard that despite being married, Robinson was pregnant by a sperm donor and had been seeing a man – leaving Dwelaniyah unsupervised – who she had met on a dating website.
The former hairdresser and personal trainer told jurors she wanted a large family, with children in “double figures” and described her faith as more of a “lifestyle than a religion”. She will be sentenced on May 24.
