CHARLES ‘SO PROUD’ OF PRINCESS’S COURAGE

THE Princess ofWales received a flood of well wishes last night after going public with her cancer diagnosis.

The King said he is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did” and remains in the “closest contact with his beloved daughter-inlaw” Buckingham Palace said.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: “My thoughts are with the Princess of Wales, Prince of Wales, the Royal Family and in particular her three children at this difficult time.

“The Princess ofWales has the love and support of the whole country as she continues her recovery.

“She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement. In recent weeks she has been subjected to intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated.

“She must be afforded the privacy to focus on her treatment and be with her loving family. I speak for the country in wishing her a full and speedy recovery.”

Recovery

The Princess of Wales’ brother, James Middleton, shared a picture of them outdoors as children, and said: “Over the years, we have climbed many mountains.As a family, we will climb this one with you too.”

Former prime minister Boris Johnson said he is wishing the Princess ofWales “all possible strength” for “a full and rapid recovery”.

The White House said: “Our thoughts are with The Princess of Wales, her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer said: “On behalf of the Labour Party, I want to send my very best wishes to Her Royal Highness at this distressin­g time.

“I am heartened by the Princess of Wales’ optimistic tone and her message of faith and hope.”

Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey said: “We join the whole country in wishing her a speedy recovery.”

NHS chief Amanda Pritchard said: “Speaking out about it is really brave and it can help others to get worrying signs and symptoms checked.”
