Mother’s tribute to her ‘angel’ Cody as two guilty of murder
Zombie knife club killing is branded ‘evil’
THE mother of a footballer who was stabbed to death with a zombie knife in a nightclub has paid tribute to her “best friend and angel” after two men were convicted of his murder.
Remy Gordon and Kami Carpenter were found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court of killing 23-year-old semi-pro Cody Fisher.
His mum Tracey said: “Cody’s family, who miss him dearly, are suffering. He truly never had a bad bone in his body. He loved teaching young children. He loved, cared for and respected his family. He had more living to do and so much more love and kindness to give to the world.
“Cody taught us all so much about ourselves and we miss him every single minute of every day. He was brave, fearless and the most genuine soul I knew. I had the honour to call him my son, my best friend and angel.”
A 10-week trial was told Mr Fisher, who played for Bromsgrove Sporting FC, was attacked with the weapon smuggled through security into Crane nightclub in Birmingham in a preplanned “act of retribution” for a minor incident two days earlier.
Jurors were told Gordon, from the city, orchestrated the “awful revenge” after Mr Fisher made brief “unavoidable” contact with him while leaving a club in Solihull on Christmas Eve in 2022.
Gordon, 23, was also found guilty of affray while 22-yearold Carpenter, of Birmingham, who was found guilty of murder, was cleared of affray.
Reegan Anderson, 19, of no fixed address, was cleared of murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter but convicted of affray. All three will be sentenced after Easter.
Mrs Fisher added: “The evilness and the cowardliness of those individuals that did that to him for nothing, who even does that? So you can bump into somebody accidentally and that is the repercussion? To be that evil?”
