PICKS OF THE DAY

Lifestyle: Stacey Solomon’s Renovation Rescue, C4, 9pm

New series sees Stacey (left) rescuing homeowners who have been left high and dry by their builders. Sharing her infectious enthusiasm for DIY and her money-saving design tips, Stacey helps families salvage their half-built homes without breaking the bank. Upscaling her own skills, Stacey masters everything from plumbing to micro-cementing, and puts it all into practice at her family home, Pickle Cottage. This week, it’s Erick and Caroline’s 1980s bungalow extension in Enfield that needs help. Their vision of a Japanese/Scandinavian-inspired, open-plan home is in jeopardy after they lost tens of thousands on building work that had to be started again.

Art: Painting Birds With Jim And Nancy Moir, SkyArts, 8pm

The last in the series sees Jim and Nancy (left) celebrate the bearded tit. There’s a very small population of this species in the UK, with just 600 breeding pairs. The couple head to RSPB Leighton Moss in Lancashire and meet up with John Nelson, a former warden, to learn more about this elusive bird. They also get together with wildlife presenter and artist Chris Packham for a painting session in one of the hides at the reserve.

Film: Table 19, Film4, 7.20pm

Relieved of her maid of honour duties after being dumped by the best man, Eloise, played by Anna Kendrick (above), attends her oldest friend’s wedding anyway and finds herself seated with a group of misfit strangers. Bonding with her tablemates she finds that friendships – and even romance – can happen under the most unlikely circumstances. Comedy drama, also starring Lisa Kudrow and Stephen Merchant.

Factual: The Bradford Aunties, BBC1, 10.40pm

We follow Tahera, Rubina and Ghazala (above) from Bradford, as they organise an intergenerational coach trip to Blackpool in a bid to keep their Asian culture and traditions alive. The ladies run a series of workshops, from language to sewing, cooking to entertainment, and the importance of marriage and relationships, to teach young people a host of skills and to create conversation between the generations.

Food: Andi Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts, BBC2, 8pm

Andi (right) travels to the seaside town of Bridlington, where she uncovers its best-kept secret – it is the lobster capital of Europe – and plans to put on a party that helps to secure the future of the town’s historic fishing industry. There’s a worry there that not enough young people are taking an interest in fishing, so Andi takes a group of local teenagers on a trip to convince them to sign up for a career on the high seas, and comes up with a shellfish feast.
