Zendaya’s a slash hit in daring tennis ball gown
IT might be neon green, it might be adorned with an actual tennis ball, but Hollywood star Zendaya still manages to look ace as she celebrates her latest movie in a daring sporting-themed gown.
The 27-year-old American actress is known to indulge in so-called “method dressing” and has served up a special outfit on every stop of her tour to promote Challengers – a steamy romance about a tennis love triangle.
So for the party after the US premiere this week, she went for the grand slam in a floor-length frock with a very plunging neckline, a skirt with a thigh-high slash and that ball at waist level.
Dune star Zendaya, who is also a producer on the film, was joined at the after-party in Los Angeles by her co-stars.
But while Josh O’Connor, 33, cut a dash in an oversized grey suit with a pale green shirt, and Mike Faist, 31, rocked an all-black two-piece, neither of them managed to look quite as bouncy as their leading lady.
In real life, Emmy award-winner Zendaya is dating actor Tom Holland, also 27, with whom she starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
But in Challengers she has two men in her life. She plays Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy who gives up her career after suffering a major injury to concentrate on coaching her colleague, Art (Faist).
The sporting couple fall in love and get married but Tashi’s feelings are tested when Art takes part in the Challenger tennis tour and has to play her ex-boyfriend Patrick (O’Connor).
The movie, directed by Luca Guadagnino, will be in cinemas on April 26.
