THANK You Day

- ROSS KEMP Actor, Author & TV Presenter

is a brilliant new tradition celebrating all that’s best about Britain.

Whether it’s raising a glass to say “cheers for volunteers”, hosting a neighbourhood barbecue or putting on a concert, over the last four years millions of us have come together on Thank You Day to show our appreciation for the people that make our communities so special.

On Sunday, July 7 we’re going to do it all again, with a focus on thanking local legends – the people who go the extra yard but don’t always get the thanks they deserve.

We all have people we want to thank – whether it’s the friend who lends a hand when times are tough, the inspiring teacher or the volunteers at the local charity bookshop.

But it’s so easy for life to get in the way, to never find the time to show how you feel.

That’s what Thank You Day is about. It’s about making time to take stock and recognise all the things that we’re grateful for, and saying a huge thank you to the many people who make the difference in our lives and in our communities.

And this year’s Thank You Day is going to be really special. In communal spaces all over the country – in parks, streets, gardens and bandstands – we’re going to be leading a community takeover, turning those spaces into places of celebration.

For one day, they will be places to come together, have a party, meet new people and celebrate with our friends and neighbours.

So get the date in your diary now – Sunday, July 7 – and for one brilliant day, let’s come together, and say a huge thank you to all the people that make Britain great.
