Andersen tells soaring Eagles stars to stay and thrive

- DAVE ARMITAGE

WOLVES 1 CRYSTAL PALACE

JOACHIM ANDERSEN is praying Crystal Palace’s young Eagles are not about to fly the nest.

The Denmark defender is loving what is happening at Selhurst Park and does not want to see a multi-million pound summer sell off.

Palace have won five of their past six games – all against teams above them in the table.

But the grandstand finish under new manager Oliver Glasner is in danger of being overshadowed by the looming threat of a mass summer sell-off.

Manchester United and Chelsea head a list of clubs who would take Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

Both could be available for around the £60million mark – unbelievable value in the current market.

England defender Marc Guehi, midfielder Adam Wharton and skipper Andersen are not short of admirers, either.

Andersen said: “There will be interest in some of our players this summer, but we want to keep our best players.

“Hopefully they will see that the future is bright here. There is a real excitement about what we’re doing.”

Transfer fever is expected to centre around Olise and Eze. Against Wolves, Olise opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a beautiful curling shot to make it double figures in an injury-hit season.

Andersen said: “We’re lucky to have him. Imagine if he had played all 37 games. He would have scored 20-25 goals.”

Three minutes later JeanPhilippe Mateta blasted home a second from close range Nathaniel Clyne’s shot hit the post.

Wolves looked in danger of being swamped and head coach Gary O’Neil shuffled things around.

Midway through the second half Matheus Cunha pulled one back.

But Wolves hopes were soon extinguished when Eze raced onto Olise’s sublime defence-splitting pass, rounded the keeper and slipped the ball home to seal the win, even with Naouirou Ahamada being sent off for a second yellow card late on.
