Eamonn’s agonising physio for back pain

- By Mark Jefferies

EAMONN Holmes is bravely taking part in painful physio sessions for chronic back pain “pretty much daily”.

The star, 64, who is still working three days a week on ITV’s GB News, had treatment in Notting Hill,West London this week.

Eamonn entered the building using two sticks to aid his mobility and left in a wheelchair.

A source close to Eamonn said: “He has been using walking aids for around 18 months now, so not much has changed unfortunately.

“He is doing everything he can, but the lack of progress from the physio has obviously been a bit frustrating.

“But he continues with sessions pretty much every day and continues to work hard in his rehabilitation.

“He is in pain a lot of the time, so that is not fun at all. But he keeps going and he is loving his work still and he is a journalist at heart.”

Eamonn is able to sit down when working for GB News Mondays to Wednesdays.

Last week, he made a brief trip to hospital but it is understood he “had a funny turn” and got checked out before being sent home.

In January, the Belfast-born host said the “harsh reality” is that he may never be able to walk alone again unaided after a series of back problems.

Eamonn – who is married to his former This Morning co-host Ruth Langsford, 64 – said: “It’s as if somebody up there is playing with my life. In the past year, I’ve had an operation on my back which went wrong and confined me to a wheelchair.

“I’ve fallen and broken my shoulder.

“Honestly, you could not make it up. I have tried every treatment, but you go, ‘Maybe I’ll never get out of it’.”
