Comedy: Murder, They Hope, BBC2, 9pm and again at 9.45pm

It’s Terry and Gemma’s wedding weekend and the bride and groom arrive at the hotel, hoping to spend a couple of days relaxing and making final plans for their big day. Sherrie Hewson plays Gemma’s mum Patricia, who brings along her new fella, hot-tub king Phil. But when a guest turns up dead, the amateur sleuths face a race against time to solve the murder before they can say “I do”. Immediatel­y after, the crime duo’s latest hunt leads them to discover potential criminal activities in Terry’s past and a lawless gang of misfits. Comedy mystery, starring Sarah Hadland, Sian Gibson (left with Hewson) and Johnny Vegas.

Cookery: Marcus Wareing Simply Provence, BBC2, 6.30pm Film: El Cid, BBC4, 9pm

Marcus (left) has a VIP guest coming for dinner – the mayor of SaintRemy’s sister – and he wants to impress. As she is a bit of a history buff, he decides to do some research into the origins of certain local produce to find culinary inspiratio­n. There’s one ingredient he has in mind: rice – and it’s a unique variety called Camargue red rice that only grows in this region. Marcus heads for the fields where it grows and has the chance to help with the harvest.

Epic historical adventure starring Charlton Heston and Sophia Loren (above). It’s the 11th century and Spain is a country divided between small Christian kingdoms and Moorish stronghold­s. From the confusion of warring factions there emerges an intrepid knight, whose exploits earn him the name El Cid. With outstandin­g support from Herbert Lom and Genevieve Page, this is 1960s Hollywood at its spectacula­r best.

Gardening: RHS Chelsea Flower Show, BBC2, 8pm

With everything viewers need to know to get ready for summer, Monty Don and Joe Swift (above) take a look at how Chelsea is helping reimagine urban living, with innovative ideas that can be replicated at home. Rachel de Thame shares the secrets to creating a private retreat in the smallest of spaces, Carol Klein unveils the new must-have plants and Nick Bailey explores a garden perfect for outdoor entertaini­ng.

Entertainm­ent: The Fortune Hotel, ITV1, 9pm

The final pairs have reached the end in this thrilling and high-octane reality show, but only one of them can check out of the hotel with the fortune case. However, a devilish twist is revealed and it’s every team for itself going into the dramatic final. A cunning riddle must be decoded in a Room Service game, and the climactic Day Trip Challenge sees guests locate a speedboat and race to escape a tropical island to make it back to the hotel first.
