OLYMPICS WATCH
Women’s Triathlon (3pm): The triathlon is one of the most gruelling events of the games, featuring a 1.5km swim, 43km cycle and a 10km run. Of the 55 women taking part today, America’s Gwen Jorgensen is the clear favourite, but Team GB’s Helen Jenkins has been in impressive form, and could run her close.
Modern Pentathlon (4pm, Red Button): One of the more unusual events at the Olympics, it tests athletes in five disciplines: swimming, fencing, horse riding, running and shooting. Joe
Choong and James Cooke will be representing Britain in the men’s competition today.
Diving (8.30pm): Tom Daley (centre) has already won a bronze medal in the men’s synchronised 10m platform event, but tonight, he will be trying to achieve similar success in the solo competition, an event in which he won bronze at London 2012. Athletics (12.10am): Mo Farah defends the 5,000m title he so memorably won in London tonight (1.30am). His main rivals will be the Kenyans, with
Caleb Ndiku, who took silver to Farah’s gold in the 2015 World Championships, leading the charge. Elsewhere in the Olympic stadium, the gold medals will be decided in the women’s high jump (12.30am), the men’s javelin (12.55am), the men’s 1,500m (1am), the women’s 800m (1.15am), and the men’s and women’s sprint relays (2am). Coverage is across all BBC platforms, including BBC1, BBC2, BBC4, Radio 5 Live and the Red Button. See listings for details.
