9PM, ITV One of the show’s great mysteries is how David has endured the past 13 years with the vile and comically one-dimensional Robyn – she clearly loathes him now, and didn’t even seem that fond of him when they first got together, in the old series. He’s got a bit of time on his hands to think about that this week after being placed on enforced leave from work – and goes off on a cycling trip with Adam and the depressed Pete (right), who is headed to a very dark place indeed. Karen, meanwhile, is seeing more of the suave Eddie.

8PM, CH4 What happens to our brains when we eat artificial sweeteners? Kate Quilton submits herself to a scan in order to find out in tonight’s report. Meanwhile, Jimmy Doherty jets off to Mauritius to learn whether brown sugar is healthier than white. Could he not just ask a nutritionist?
