National Treasure 9PM, CH4 This thought-provoking, four-part drama explores the topical if controversial subject of accusations of historic sex abuse, here against a fictional celebrity. Robbie Coltrane (right) tops an outstanding cast as veteran comic Paul Finchley, with Julie Walters as his long-suffering wife and Andrea Riseborough as his troubled daughter. Their lives implode when he is arrested after a single accusation and the story hits the headlines. Carefully establishing the characters, this first episode is incredibly effective, plausible and deeply involving.

8PM, BBC2 The next stop on Si and Dave’s poultry-themed culinary tour is Morocco, where they discover that chicken is relatively new on the North African menu, having only gained popularity in the 1970s. Dishes this week include a chicken tagine, while the eggs go into a rose and pistachio ice cream, which helps the boys to cool down. DIY SOS: The Big Build 9PM, BBC1 Scott Jones, 17, was the 2013 F34 shot put world champion and is an aspiring Paralympian, with his sights set on Tokyo in 2020. Great Continental Railway Journeys 9PM, BBC2 Back for a fifth series, Michael Portillo begins his latest rail adventure in Romania. With his Bradshaw’s 1913 Continental Railway Guide under his arm, Michael visits Transylvania – the home of Dracula – and the craggy Carpathian mountains, finding a country that is full of surprises.
