This, plus a perception that women from African and Caribbean background­s should be curvy, is causing serious health issues. The writer Bonnie Greer and the academic Dionne Taylor look at the long-term health problems caused by the pursuit of a curvy physique, and hear from a white woman about to have plastic surgery to get the ‘perfect black bottom’.

8PM, RADIO 2 Singers Madeline Bell and Ian Shaw join the Guy Barker Big Band and the BBC Concert Orchestra for a programme of music celebratin­g the work of the great musical all-rounder Quincy Jones.
