PICK OF THE DAY
The Apprentice
9PM, BBC1 The second week finds Lord Sugar starting to get the measure of the 17 remaining candidates – and finding ample opportunity to dip into his extensive repertoire of put-downs. ‘Trying to calm you down is like trying to baptise a cat,’ he tells one. Given two days to create an ad campaign for jeans made from Japanese denim, the two teams set about falling apart at the seams. The farce that follows is a masterclass in how not to impress their mentor, resulting in a jawdropping boardroom climax, the like of which has never been seen before.
Anne Robinson’s Britain
8PM, BBC1 Dog-lover Anne Robinson travels around the UK, meeting fellow pet owners to find out why so many of us choose to share our home with a fourlegged friend. From pampered pooches to highly trained, highly regimented hunting dogs, what do our relationships with our pets say about us, as individuals and as nation?
Nature’s Weirdest Events
8PM, BBC2 In this episode, Chris Packham looks at the incredible Australian caterpillar that wears a helmet made out of its own discarded head casings, or skulls. Plus, he investigates why a much-loved dolphin suddenly started injuring people, and how a minuscule crustacean has managed to harness the cloak of invisibility.
The Fall
9PM, BBC2 As the hospitalised Spector regains consciousness, it becomes apparent that he is suffering from long-term memory loss – unless, of course, he’s feigning his symptoms. Meanwhile, as a horrified Gibson grows increasingly convinced that he’s committed many more crimes, Spector’s wife Sally-Ann comes to a terrible decision. SH
